TB has taken so many of our beloved ones but now the time has come for us to fight back and stop tb!
The STOP TB Partnership – Zambia is a movement of individuals and organizations from the Government of Zambia, corporate community, patient community and the people of Zambia for the elimination of tuberculosis (TB) and reduction of poverty-related diseases in Zambia.
It mirrors the Global Stop TB Partnership, which is composed of donors, national and international organizations, government and non-governmental organizations, affected communities and academic institutions working together to reduce the toll of TB worldwide and ultimately achieve a world free of TB.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that the incidence of TB is now about 500 cases per 100,000 people annually, making it one of the leading causes of death in Zambia.
HIV patients have a high risk of contracting tuberculosis. In Zambia, 59% of tuberculosis patients have also tested positive for HIV.
Tuberculosis is extremely costly for individuals and for Zambia as a nation. Medications and other services like x-rays can be expensive for individual families.
